2025 year in review: Metropolis’ top 5 highlights
The real world is the next frontier, and in 2025, we proved it’s ready to move with us.
This year marked a shift in the way people experience the world around them, moving away from device-based interaction toward intelligence powered by presence and recognition.
By connecting recognition, decision-making and transactions, we built the infrastructure to transform physical spaces into responsive environments that understand presence and anticipate needs.
We call this the Recognition Economy, a new category — a new age — defined by Metropolis. Here’s a look at our top five highlights from a transformational 2025.
Scale: Validating the platform
The Recognition Economy is already operating at scale. This year, the Metropolis Network expanded to serve 21 million Members across more than 4,200 locations.
We’re the largest parking operator in the U.S., welcoming more than 1 million new Members every month, and this growth validates our approach. Every new location and Member strengthens our network, creates irrefutable Partner value and proves the world is ready for frictionless, presence-based experiences.
Expansion: Powering the future of mobility
We continued to successfully implement our technology within one of the most complex environments possible: aviation. Metropolis now powers 100+ airports, enabling more seamless journeys for travelers and powerful capabilities for airport teams.
By deploying our Recognition Platform in these critical hubs, we’re demonstrating that even high-security, high-volume environments can be frictionless. This is just the beginning of how we enable the future of mobility.
Technology: From vehicles to presence
We continued to strengthen our Recognition Platform, expanding our capabilities beyond the vehicle to truly understand presence.
Our technology understands context and behavior, allowing us to deliver personalized experiences that feel tailor-made. This evolution allows us to transform more everyday interactions into seamless moments that happen automatically at the speed of you.
Acceleration: Fueling growth across verticals
Metropolis secured a landmark $1.6 billion in financing to accelerate the growth of the Recognition Economy.
This capital allows us to continue transforming parking while providing the ability to expand beyond. We’re actively deploying the Recognition Platform into new areas like fueling, drive-thrus and hospitality, building the connective tissue between industries and creating a unified experience that removes barriers and gives our Members more time back.
Transformation: Redefining physical experiences
Metropolis received some recognition of our own this year, thanks to our impact on the built world. We ranked #13 on the CNBC Disruptor 50 list, cementing ourselves as, “a significant player in AI-driven urban infrastructure,” and joining the ranks of an impressive cohort of companies including Anduril, OpenAI, Databricks, Anthropic and more.
This recognition — along with coverage from major outlets like Reuters, Fortune, the LA Times and more — reflects our commitment to redefining how people experience the physical world as we continue to transform static infrastructure into dynamic, responsive environments and make the everyday feel magical.
The Recognition Economy isn’t just a concept — it’s the new standard for how we move, pay and connect. 2025 proved the physical world is ready for a future that feels effortless, and we’re excited to continue building it.
