Metropolis named to TIME100's Most Influential Companies of 2026
This is more than an accolade. It's proof that the Recognition Economy is real — and that it's working.
The results are in, and we'll let the headline speak for itself: Metropolis has been named one of TIME100's Most Influential Companies of 2026.
Out of millions of companies operating across every industry, TIME recognized the best of the best. We're listed among the most consequential organizations shaping the world right now. That's not something we take lightly.
This — along with Metropolis being named as one of TIME100’s 10 Most Influential Transportation Companies of 2026 — marks a defining moment for this company, our Partners, our Members and for the Recognition Economy.
What TIME recognized
TIME described Metropolis as a company applying AI to one of urban life's most persistent frustrations. That framing is accurate, but it's also just the beginning of the story.
Since our founding in 2017, Metropolis has grown into the largest parking network in the United States — 4,200+ locations across North America, processing more than $5 billion in annual payments and serving 25 million Members. Our platform uses AI and computer vision to recognize vehicles automatically, eliminating tickets, kiosks and the friction that has defined parking for generations.
In November 2024, we closed a $1.6 billion financing round. This is the capital we're deploying to extend the Recognition Platform beyond parking and into gas stations, drive-thrus, hospitality, aviation and beyond.
This is the company TIME recognized. Not just a parking technology provider, but a platform company building intelligence for the real world.
What it means to be a Disrupter
On the TIME100 list, Metropolis is classified as a Disrupter. It's the right category.
The parking industry has operated on the same basic model for decades: tickets, meters, kiosks, attendants. The experience hasn't meaningfully evolved. We set out to change that — not by digitizing the old model, but by replacing it entirely with one built on recognition.
Our Recognition Platform uses computer vision and machine learning to identify and respond to presence the moment it arrives. Members don't tap, fumble or scan. They drive in, park and leave — and the rest happens automatically. It's a fundamentally different experience powered by a platform that gets smarter with every single event it processes.
That's disruption in the truest sense: A better model operating at scale and earning recognition from one of the most respected journalism organizations in the world.
The Recognition Economy: What this validation means
For anyone who follows Metropolis closely, the concept of the Recognition Economy isn't new. But TIME’s acknowledgement — in a year where the world is paying closer attention to physical AI than ever before — matters.
The Recognition Economy is our term for a fundamental shift in how the physical world works. Modern life is full of redundancy: We re-enter, re-authenticate and re-prove who we are, even in places we've visited hundreds of times. Metropolis is building toward a future where repetition disappears, where presence replaces process and where being known unlocks access, comfort and belonging.
Parking is our foundation. It's where we've built the infrastructure, earned the trust of our Partners and proved the model at massive scale — but it's just the beginning.
The $1.6 billion we raised in 2025 is funding the next chapter as we extend the Recognition Platform into every part of daily life where friction still exists. The more locations that join the Metropolis Network and the more Members it serves, the more valuable the platform becomes for every Partner within it. That’s what we call the Network Effect.
For our Partners, the TIME100 recognition signals something important: The future you've bet on is here, and the company you're building it with is being recognized, at the highest level, for exactly that work.
The foundation we've built
Recognition from TIME is meaningful, but what's more meaningful is the infrastructure that earned it.
The Metropolis Network is already large, and it’s designed to compound. Our platform processes 18 million vehicle events per month. Every one of those events feeds data back into the system, increasing our AI’s accuracy, strengthening our recognition and making our Member experience more seamless.
Our Members — 25 million and growing by approximately 1 million per month — are choosing Metropolis-powered locations because the experience is simply better. That preference drives measurable value to our Partners, with an average year-over-year revenue increase of 15%.
Our Bilt partnership is one of the clearest proof points of how this network creates compounding value. In the first 120 days alone, more than 1 million Bilt accounts linked to Metropolis and more than 5 million Bilt Points were earned at our locations. Our demand channels — including our owned Parking.com and Aeroparker platforms and third-party integrations with SpotHero, ParkWhiz and Way — bring new visitors directly to Partner locations and keep Members returning.
This is the foundation the TIME100 recognition is built on. Not a vision deck, not a pilot program. It’s a network operating at scale, delivering results and getting stronger every day.
What comes next
We believe the physical world is on the verge of a transformation as significant as the one the internet brought to commerce and communication. The infrastructure for the Recognition Economy is being built right now, location by location, Member by Member, vertical by vertical.
The future isn't waiting for some distant breakthrough. The technology exists. The network is live. The results are in the data.
For Partners, this moment is an opportunity to be a foundational part of something that TIME already recognizes and that 25 million Members are already living every day.
We're just getting started.
